about

A collection of 8 classic rock-style backing tracks for musicians to jam over.

Obviously the pandemic has made it more difficult to jam with other human beings. With that in mind, I recorded these backing tracks to give myself something to jam over. They aren't note-for-note renditions of the songs they are derived from. Since these are meant to be jams, I used the same chord progression throughout as a base. It's not the same as playing in a real band, but it will do, especially for practice. Since I usually see generic blues backing tracks, I wanted to do some based on the tunes I especially love jamming over, which are usually simple, open-ended progressions.

One reason these tracks are so basic is that I wanted to leave room for interpretation, as well as other instruments. I've noticed that most backing tracks are made for guitar players. While I am a guitarist, I recognize that other musicians might find these tracks useful, as well. That's why I'm including separate tracks for each song. The first track is a full band backing track. The second has no bass, so bassists can jam along with their own lines. The third has no drums, so drummers can get in on the fun. Each track is clearly labeled with the correct key and BPM. You can load these into any recording software and create your own tracks. And obviously, any musician can use these to jam over, whether you play harmonica, keys, or other string or reed instruments.

My hope is that other musicians will use these to record their own parts and send them to bandmates and friends. Think of these as a base to create your own versions. Or just simply jam along for fun. Hopefully some of my friends will send me their isolated drums, bass or other instrument tracks and I can jam along to those as well!

Because I initially did these just for myself to jam over and they are so basic, I'm giving them away to anyone who wants them for free. Just put "0" in the amount field when asked to name your price. If you enjoy them and want to make a donation, that's cool too. You can also download any other album on my site. If you post these on social media, try to tag me and link to this page if ya can.

Other than that, enjoy jamming!
